Southend Charabanc - Public Record: Estuary - talk and walk

Public Record Estuary is an audio poetry project that explores the land- and seascape of Leigh-on-Sea by creating poetry from 19th-century newspaper reports of minor shipwrecks in the estuary. The talk will discuss the methods used to create the piece - sampling and 'cutting up' the historical archive, site-specific poetry and reimagining today's landscape by haunting it with the past. The walk will trod the loop mapped by the original audio piece, with live readings, recordings and new work based on the piece's methods performed on location.
