Intra Arts have run the community arts venue and maker space called ‘INTRA’ since 2014, and here the public has access to a wide range of specialist artist-owned equipment. They have a printmaking studio, kilns for glass, craft equipment, and welcoming workspaces where we run creative classes. As a not-for-profit organisation, they have grown deep roots in the community, running festivals, hosting exhibitions, developing projects with arts activities, and helping people to find creative pathways to better wellbeing.
They offer a multi-disciplinary programme of cultural events, training and activities, welcoming people from Medway, Kent and beyond. They co-produce Ebb & Flow festival and Medway Open Studios, and take part in Medway Print Festival.
Their arts group Wave for young people at risk of suicide and self-harm has been running since 2018. Medway Fine Printmakers CIC runs our printmaking studio, including equipment and classes for screen printing, etching, relief printing, monoprinting, and Risograph. In November they host an annual print fair called the Wayzgoose, with their printmakers taking stalls to show and sell their work. Their new windows gallery is visible 24 hours a day from the street, with a varied programme of exhibitions. Plans for 2021 include opening a Scrapstore at INTRA, to offer affordable and randomly wonderful arts materials, salvaged from business waste and donations. They’ll be re-establishing connections with the Home Education community, schools and universities, reaching out to more groups in Medway, and working with arts and culture organisations on projects that benefit local people.
Gallery: 24 hours / 7 days viewable from street, Printmaking Studio: Wednesdays 2pm - 9pm & Saturdays 11am - 6pm by appointment, Workshops / Events / Activities: see website for dates & times.
