Medway Council present an anniversary celebration of The Strand's 125th year through the sharing of memories and images through a virtual exhibition.
The Strand is home to one of Britain’s earliest open air pools, originally opening on 27 June 1896 and soon becoming a popular summer attraction for residents and visitors.
The 1930’s saw the introduction of the putting green, café, pony rides and bandstand with the infamous miniature railway becoming a welcome addition in 1948.
This year marks 125 years since the opening which will be celebrated with our many visitors from over the years. Fond memories and images from the public’s private collections will be used to form a virtual exhibition that can be shared with everyone.
Earlier this spring, we asked Medway residents to send in their favourite memories at the park from years gone by. We received lots of entries....while we also uncovered lots of memorabilia and moments from our archives.
A big thank you to everyone who sent in a photo! Take a look through our gallery of memories....
Want to share your favourite memory? Tell us why you love The Strand by sending us your memory (with a photo if you have one) to [email protected]
