Role Description
This role has a number of different facets including: invigilating specific works of art; helping audience members to access and understand planned artworks and events safely; helping audience members to understand and take part in the work to help artists to achieve their full vision; explaining the context of the work within the wider scope of Estuary 2021; promoting other festival elements.

Where are you needed?
Artworks will be located along the coast from Dartford to Margate. Many are accessible by public transport but for some you'll need your own vehicle.
Venues include secluded historic churches and busy town centres. We have indoor and outdoor placements, working alone or with others. Contact us now to find your best match.

What art will be featured?
From a golden ice cream van, films and poetry to sculpture and clock towers chiming with birdsong, Estuary 2021 will celebrate new art in many forms.

Responsibilities
Public facing role, interacting with audience members, sharing information, encouraging people to explore and understand the artworks on exhibition.
Ensure that the artworks are respected, kept safe and interacted with appropriately.
We will also ask you to take part in the collection of visitor feedback through questionnaires (paper and on iPad) as part of our evaluation of Estuary 2021.
Ensure that our festival COVID-19 safety protocols are adhered to and implemented - by and for all members of the Invigilation & Volunteers team - as well as for and by audiences.
Estuary 2021 will provide T-shirts and Fleeces to be worn.

Skills and Qualities
Confident and outgoing personality who enjoys spending time talking to people and can approach people sensitively. A knowledge and interest in the Visual Arts and/or Literature is desirable. This role will require Invigilators to digest the information about the artists and artworks on exhibition and those speaking at Estuary 2021 – particularly in the site/hub that you are working within.

Eligibility

Minimum Age for this role is 18

Support
You will be supported by the Estuary 2021 project team, the Metal staff team and a dedicated Invigilator/Volunteer manager throughout the Festival; ensuring that you feel confident, valued and safe.

Interviews will be held online via Zoom in the week commencing 10 May.
The start date will be in the week commencing 17 May.

All successful candidates must attend a training and induction session. At this session you will have an opportunity to meet fellow invigilators, receive essential information on COVID-19 safety and protocols for you and others, and receive an induction pack with all the information you will need for the role.
