LV21
LV21 was established in 2009 by British and Finnish creative practitioners Gary Weston and Päivi Seppälä.
LV21 specialises in producing large-scale artistic programmes and community participatory site responsive work across artforms to deliver innovative cultural projects that affect positive social change.
Built in 1963, the operational 'flagship' Light Vessel 21 is a unique 40 metre steel-hulled historic lightship, the last of the renowned Philip & Son's ships to be commissioned by Trinity House. LV21 saw most of her service on the Kent coast on the Varne, East Goodwin and Channel stations. She was decommissioned in 2008 and since then has undergone an extensive transformation into a floating cultural facility – a Cultural Beacon, shining a light on arts and culture in north Kent. She is currently moored on the River Medway at Anchor Wharf in the heart of the Historic Dockyard Chatham.
Scarabeus Aerial Theatre
Scarabeus Aerial Theatre, established by Italian and Danish aerial performers Daniela Essart and Søren Nielsen, has for over 35 years created visually arresting and transformative performances. Their work merges aerial skills with visual theatre and choreographed movement in site-specific, immersive and touring performances.
Scarabeus conjure into existence thought provoking, unforgettable productions and participation projects dealing with contemporary narratives, aimed at awakening empathy and ethical consciousness in a wide range of audiences.
