Niall Finneran

Dr Niall Finneran is Reader in Archaeology at the University of Winchester. Educated at the Universities of Jerusalem, London and Cambridge, has has directed archaeological fieldwork in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. He is currently undertaking maritime archaeology work in Devon and in the Caribbean. He is a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.

Shorelines talk: 'Where rivers and seas meet themes on the archaeology of estuaries':
The estuary is the liminal point between river and sea, and these distinctive places demand their own archaeological consideration. Drawing upon a series of case studies, themes on the maritime archaeology of the estuary (i.e. human cultural interaction with land and water) are outlined.
