Nathalie Coste

Nathalie Coste

Part of Explore Thamesmead, taking place on Sat 29 and Sun 30 May.

Nathalie Coste is a Visual Artist and a Textile designer specialising in reusing textiles and recycled materials in her artwork. Graduate in Fashion Design and Pattern cutting -Esmod Paris-, and National Postgraduate Degree in Fine Arts - ESADM Marseilles.

Her work is built from the historical change in our lifes conditions, defined by climate change. She puts into perspective our capacity for adaptability as human beings facing this new era by inventing new ways of communication through her artworks.  She creates sculpture with low technology medium from scrap (old generation LED boards, photocopy machines, mirror balls, old polaroid cameras etc) in conversation with soft sculptures made of recycled felt inspired by words linked to the climate change: Ozone holes, Permafrost, Gulf Stream , Global Warming...

For Estuary 2021, she will create the Climate Change Stock Exchange fitted on the roof top of Lakeside Centre, displaying texts programmed daily via a Windows PC.

Content will be created through an online writing workshop (details to follow) linked with 'Electronic Poetry Projects' and supported by the London Community Foundation - a dedicated poetry workshop about Climate Change.
